We're an independent teaching organization in Seattle, opening the world of Perl and other dynamic programming languages like JavaScript, Python, Ruby, and Lisp to beginners and journeyman programmers alike! We take special care to address new programmers who haven't done a lot of coding recently. And having worked in industry in not-fun languages too, we can help relate to you if you already know several languages well. We'd love to have you at our next teaching session.
Dynamic Academy welcomes any and all operating systems to its sessions. We help users of Windows, Vista, Mac OSX, Linux, Solaris, Cygwin, BSD, and others. Perl is one of the most ported languages there is, and we take pride in ensuring all our examples, including full database-backed modern web applications, will run on YOUR computer.
Classes are generally held in classrooms provided by Seattle Pacific University in Fremont, and range from 10 weeks long to single day seminars. Hands-on lab work is intensive. You'll go home with working code and thorough unit test suite you've written yourself.
Here are two examples of teaching during the course; the first is a Whirlwind Introduction to Perl given on the first day of the Perl Programming course for those new to the language. The second is part of the Object Oriented Perl session covering Perl's popular postmodern object framework, Moose. I recommend clicking the "Full" button to read the notes on the slides.

Dynamic Academy and Doug Treder are not currently affliated with the University of Washington.
